Cordite Lives On
Now that the embargo imposed by the Australia Council has ended, I'm free to inform you that Cordite Poetry Review has secured further funding under the Council's "Presentation and Promotion" category. The funding will be used to pay Australian contributors and to cover production costs for five issues in 2004.
This is very exciting news for us - being one of only a handful of online magazines to receive such support, we take seriously our role as a provider of culturally relevant content, as well as supporting new and emerging Australian writers.
It's also a very nice Christmas present.
We'll be taking a small hiatus over the stupid season, but in the meantime, check out some interesting summer reading in the form of our special Search Poetry feature, presented in conjunction with the Poetry Espresso Mailing list. Cassie Lewis' Introduction gives the low-down. We'll be adding more content (including detailed information about how to construct a search poem) in the new year.
Submissions are still open for Issue #17 but you'd better be quick. Go to our Submissions page for details.
Thank you to all of our contributors in 2003, who have helped transform Cordite from a static magazine to a dynamic, interactive one. Thank you also to all the readers out there who seem to be digging what we do. We're now averaging almost a thousand visitors per week, which is amazing. Keep those comments rolling in.
Take care now, especially on the roads. Driver hits your screens February 1, 2004.
